Reinsurance broker Gallagher Re has announced the appointment of Riaan Botes as Regional Director – South Africa.
With 25 years of experience in reinsurance, Botes brings a wealth of expertise and leadership to his new role.
The executive is joining Gallagher Re from Santam Re, where he most recently served as Head of Underwriting.
Prior to that, he was Santam Head of Reinsurance Buying and Head of Santam Re Actuarial.
Before joining Santam, Botes was Aon Re’s Head of Analytics, a role he held for three years. He also served as CEO of Xtreme Loss Solutions Software, at Guy Carpenter as Broker & Analytics and at Hannover Re, where he was part of the Statistical Services & Treaty Underwriting team.
Commenting on his most recent appointment, a Gallagher Re spokesperson stated. “[Botes’] in-depth knowledge of the South African market will be instrumental in enhancing our client offerings and reinforcing our position as a leading reinsurance broker in the region.”
