Sompo Hong Kong, part of Sompo International Holdings Ltd., has appointed Szeto Ophelia as Head of Property & Construction and Jessica Lai as Head of Mid-Corp & SME, enhancing its underwriting structure, effective January 1st, 2026.
The appointments are part of Sompo Hong Kong’s ongoing commitment to deliver exceptional service and sustainable growth.
In her new role, Ophelia will be covering Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan, and continue to provide regional technical underwriting excellence support to the Asia Pacific (APAC) region.
She reports to Alasdair Walker, Chief Executive Officer, Sompo Hong Kong, with a matrix reporting into Li Lian Soong, Sompo APAC Head of Property.
Currently, Ophelia serves as the Vice President (VP), Property Senior Underwriter, APAC. Before this, she did an over nine-year stint as VP, Head of Commercial Property of Asia for Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance. In the past, Ophelia served for over eight years as Assistant Vice President of Commercial Property for APAC at AIG Asia Pacific.
In her new role, Lai will oversee Sompo Hong Kong’s existing portfolio and equip the business with the right products, tools, authority, and guidelines to further scale. She will continue to report to Walker and currently serves as the Head of Commercial Underwriting.
